Manganite (Greensand Equivalent) is a black, granular filter medium coated with manganese dioxide (MnO₂) deposited on a lightweight zeolite core. Each grain has a coating that acts as a catalyst in the oxidation-reduction reaction of iron and manganese, converting dissolved contaminants into insoluble particles that are then filtered out of the water.

Unlike media that require pre-conditioning, Manganite (Greensand) is ready to install and regenerate using standard regeneration techniques, making it ideal for a wide range of water treatment systems.

Catalytic Oxidation

The MnO₂ coating catalyses oxidation of dissolved iron and manganese — converting Fe²⁺ to Fe³⁺ and Mn²⁺ to Mn⁴⁺.
